OVERVIEW The Blue Lagoon Resort is Truk Lagoon's premier scuba diving resort. Located at the site of the 1944 US Navy attack on Truk Lagoon known as Operation Hailstone, the resort grounds still contain many WWII relics left behind by the Imperial Japanese Navy including defensive Pillboxes.
The resort is a great base for topside excursions such as visits to neighboring islands or WWII artifact hikes. |
|
Shaded by palm trees, the Blue Lagoon Resort grounds are great for quiet moments, scenic walks, and offer panoramic views for photography of Truk Lagoon and the Chuuk islands.
Enjoy your meals with a view of Truk Lagoon. The dining room is a great place for socializing, sunset-watching or catching up on your email using the wifi connection. |
|
ACCOMMODATION The Blue Lagoon Resort has 54 large and comfortably furnished rooms. Accommodations include Standard first floor rooms, second floor Superior rooms and deluxe Suites with king size bed, separate living room and kitchen facilities.
All rooms are air conditioned with full bath and shower, telephone, refrigerator and a private balcony that overlooks the Lagoon. |
|
DIVING The Blue Lagoon Dive Shop is native owned and operated and has been guiding divers since 1973. It is a complete dive facility offering air, Nitrox, or mixed gas and can accommodate all levels from the snorkeler or new diver right up to multi-tank wreck divers. Multiple boats assure smaller dive groups and maximum flexibility, whether your interest is underwater sightseeing, tec diving or underwater photography and video.
The islands and fringing coral reefs that encircle Truk Lagoon provide a protective barrier from large waves and strong ocean currents, one of the reasons the Imperial Japanese Navy made it one of their most important naval bases during WWII.
The Lagoon has over 60 wrecks, many only recently discovered, including ships, aircraft, battle tanks, vehicles, and a large assortment of World War II armament. Some of them took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and Midway Island operation. The most popular wrecks, as well as many lesser known ones, are a short ride from the resort. |
