DIVING Timor-Leste, once governed by Indonesia, has a tumultuous history with a strong influence from the Portuguese, which is one of this small nation's official languages. The young nation is made up of the eastern half of Timor island, Atauro Island to the north and the tiny island of Jako, yet despite being an island nation does not have a strong fishing background. On land the hot humid climate brings lush vegetation and the opportunity to tour the jungles and mountains.
Oriental Siren sails from Dili to Atauro Island, then on to Jako island and along the northern coast before returning to Dili. The wondrous dugong (sea cow) can be sighted along the northern coast, the steep walls of Atauro Island bring sharks and rays, Jako Island is a rush of currents, and the sheltered bays provide havens for many tiny species from seahorses and octopus to frogfish and rhinopias.
S/Y Oriental Siren is accompanied by 2 high-powered Zodiacs, and Enriched Air Nitrox is available for a minimal charge for all certified Nirox divers. If you are not a certified Nitrox diver, instructors can certainly teach you the Enriched Air Specialty onboard. |
| PHOTO FACILITIES Each cabin is fitted with an individual computer and multiple power sources to facilitate the needs of digital photography. The computer features high-end specifications and 20” high-definition flatscreens, which is integrated with the yachts network server in the saloon.
Camera workstations are dedicated to the preparation and maintenance of cameras including prep and storage areas. On the dive deck large rinsing tanks with fresh water are changed on a regular basis. |
