Moody’s Namena Resort is an environmentally friendly private island South Pacific getaway and offers scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing or honeymoon vacations with Fijian bure accommodation. The Resort is a secluded paradise with white sand beaches as well as hiking trails through tropical forest.

Rising dramatically from the depths of the Koro Sea and on the fringe of Bligh Waters, lies the mile-long 110 acre island of Namenalala, surrounded by one of Fiji's most pristine diving and snorkeling reef ecosystems known as the Namena Barrier Reef.

Unlike most island resorts where the bures, restaurant, bar and activities center are situated 'on the beach', to make the most of spectacular vistas of reefs, beaches and distant islands, Moody’s is located on the cliff top where you not only have panoramic views, but catch the tradewinds as well.

The large hexagonal bure, 'vale ni kana' (clubhouse), is the central gathering place consisting of lounge area, dining, self-serve bar and a large paperback library. Here you will find books on fish and coral identification, birds, local culture and traditions. Cuisine is a blend of local and international fare and staff are happy to share or swap recipes.

Moody’s Namena Resort has 6 hexoganal bures built of native woods, bamboo and cane to blend with the environment. Perched along the ridge, each bure is oceanfront with its own unique view out to sea overlooking either the beach or the reefs at the base of the cliffs.

Four of the bures face northwesterly towards the southern coast of Vanua Levu and each site was carefully chosen and spaced hundreds of yards apart to provide the ultimate in privacy. Various tropical bushes, plants and fruit trees lend color and provide additional privacy between each bure.

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size canopy bed with mosquito netting draped around the base of the canopy and the bathroom includes an over-size shower with his and her toilets and sinks on either side. You'll find coffee and tea making facilities in the beautiful hardwood cabinet tucked in a corner of your bedroom.

Romantic gas lamps provide 24 hour lighting and there are solar lamps for reading in bed along with a fan. Piped-in gas runs your lights, hot water for showers and your tea kettle. Several walls have floor-to-ceiling sliding louvered doors for fantastic views.

Fiji's reef eco-system (often called the soft coral capital of the South Pacific) is diversified and the Namena Barrier Reef which surrounds Namenalala Island is acclaimed by diving publications as one of Fiji's best sites. Most sites are around 10-25 minutes from the island.

A protected Marine Reserve since 2004, the waters within Namena Barrier Reef are breeding grounds for every type of marine animal. There are bommies and walls covered with a wide variety of soft and hard corals and loaded with a variety of fish, nudibranchs and other sea creatures and many sites to explore.

Moody’s has 2 dive boats: Tofua, a 33 foot cabin cruiser with covered roof and Saltshaker, a 28 foot fiberglass with a 225 hp outboard engine. To protect the reef, they never anchor. The captain will drop you off at the dive site and then sit off following bubbles so when you are ready to come aboard, he is right there to pick you up. No having to return over old territory to return to an anchored boat.
