Garden Island Resort

Built in 1971, Garden Island Resort is the oldest and largest resort with 30 rooms on the beautiful island of Taveuni. The resort has undergone a complete refurbishment with renovated ocean view and ocean front spa suites, bar and dining area fitted with modern amenities and the comforts of home, while maintaining the friendly and high quality service Garden Island Resort is renowned for.

The Drodrolagi restaurant features fine local and international cuisine with fresh local seafood, produce, meats and poultry. The dining room is located on the ocean front side of the resort where soft breezes, beautiful views, and the sound of ocean waves add to the enjoyment of our gourmet meals prepared by the Garden Island Resort chefs. Traditional Fijian Lovo (feast) is featured regularly.

The resort gardens provide bananas, papayas, pineapples, passion fruit, coconuts, and a variety of citrus fruits seasonally ready for our guests. Afternoon tea and coffee are served with freshly baked goods.

Cool down in the fresh water pool by the dining area, with stunning views of the Somosomo Straits from dawn until dusk or indulge in the Nature Spa, an outdoor bure surrounded by lush green plants for ultimate relaxation and privacy. The ocean, a stone’s throw away complements the soothing and relaxing sounds of the tropics.

There are 15 Ocean View Suites with private balconies and with four of these rooms inter-connecting, it's ideal for families. There are 15 Ocean Front Spa Suites with private outdoor spa and patio.

Fed by the nutrient-rich waters that flow through the Somosomo Straits, Taveuni's Rainbow Reef is home to one of the world's greatest displays of soft coral. Twenty spectacular dive sites are nearby (between 10-20 minutes from the Dive Center), and Garden Island has three 30-foot dive vessels that will whisk you away to the famous dive sites. Nitrox is also available.

The experienced local dive team, with intimate knowledge of the waters, select the best dive sites based on the currents and weather conditions to ensure each dive is a memorable one.

Garden Island Resort is the first Gold Palm Resort to be awarded by PADI Australia in the region (now known as the PADI 5 Star Dive Resort award). This award recognizes PADI International Resort Association members that present a professional image, and demonstrate excellence in customer satisfaction, dive experiences, education, safety and environmental awareness. They offer the full range of PADI qualified courses.
