The charming little Tufi Dive Resort is located on the northern side of the mainland between Lae and Alotau on the tip of Cape Nelson, and is accessible only by sea and air. Under new ownership since the beginning of 2000, Tufi Dive Resort has had a complete overhaul, replaced and added buildings, and acquired a new fast dive boat for daytrips.
The wharf facilities have been upgraded to include a stairway for easy access to the water, and muck diving from the wharf is a photographer`s fantasy with a splendid display of nudibranchs, shrimpfish, mandarin fish and colorful crabs.
The new main building houses a dining room, lounge, bar, and the reception. The wooden building is in harmony with the tropical surroundings, and feature traditional woven walls and exquisite carvings from many different regions of the country.
This is an inviting place to relax, relive the day`s diving adventure and plan tomorrow`s underwater exploration. The menu in the restaurant is a lavish mix of local seafood, vegetables and tropical fruits. Another place to relax is the new Fjord Terrace offering great views and barbecue dinners. |

Accommodation The units have polished timber floors and are traditionally lined. All of the civilized creature comforts, screens, air-conditioning, hot water, ensuites, bar fridge, coffee and tea making facilities are available. Most units have verandahs overlooking the fiord or Coral sea.

Activities The fjords are excellent for macro diving, but conditions are also ideal for snorkeling.
Because there is very little current movement in the fjords, many sponges and coral species grow prolifically and there are some very large sponges and shelf corals that are not common on the outer reefs. Most of the dive sites are within thirty minutes from the resort. Other common sites are massive schools of colorful reef fish, large pelagics such as hammerheads and groupers, and an infinite variety of soft and hard corals.
Apart from diving, Tufi Dive Resort offers a lengthy guided bushwalk to an adjoining fjord, for the magnificent views of Cape Nelson and the peaks of Mt. Trafalgar. For the naturalists, experience the largest butterfly in the world, the Queen Alexandra`s bird-wing. Enjoy a leisurely swim or a stroll down a sandy beach five minutes from your room door. Kayak the fjords and experience the magnificent waterfalls that cascade from the cliff tops. Tufi Dive Resort is a great find! |
