Gizo Hotel

A 1½ hour flight from Honiara takes you light years away to the small island of Gizo in the Western Province. Here, islanders travel island to island in slender dugout canoes and visitors mellow out in the endless number of lagoons and coral cays. Diving around Gizo ranges from peaceful shallow lagoons and fringing reefs, dramatic vertical walls and drop-offs to, of course, intriguing sunken war wrecks such as the world famous Tao Maru.

The second largest town in the Solomon Islands and capital of the Western Province, Gizo is a quiet little town surrounded by hundreds of palm tree studded islands ringed by coral reef and clear blue seas. This is a great base to explore the Solomon Islands on active adventure trips, sea kayaking, mountain biking, trekking and more.

Scuba diving is with Adventure Sports, and offers a variety of dive course and equipment for rent. Try also sport fishing, island tours, romantic picnics on deserted islets, nature hikes, cultural tours, or rent a mountain bike or sea kayak and explore the beautiful tropical surroundings. For families, interconnecting poolside and seaview rooms, children`s luncheons and babysitting are available.

Gizo Hotel is located on the waterfront in the middle of Gizo`s tropical tranquility. There are fifteen standard rooms for two to four people, fourteen poolside double rooms and sixteen seaview double rooms. All rooms feature private bathrooms, ceiling fans, refrigerators, coffee-making facilities and telephones. The newer poolside and seaview rooms also have balconies and air-conditioning. Gizo Hotel`s split-level restaurant and bar offer views over the bay and specialize in fresh local seafood and produce. There is also a tour desk, gift shop, saltwater swimming pool and a volleyball court.
