Join professional wildlife photographer Amos Nachoum in a unique encounter with the Nile crocodile in its natural habitat. Capture underwater images of this prehistoric creature, up close and personal.

Crocodiles are harmless underwater because their eyesight is poor; they evolved in murky water, never needing good eyesight. Instead, they have a great sense of touch. Because their eyesight is limited they cannot see divers getting close to them.

The best and only time to be in the water with the Nile crocodile is in June and July, during the winter when the water in the Okavango Delta is clear enough (15-20 feet) and cold enough.

When the water is cold the crocs like to sunbathe, so you will first see them at the surface. When they sense your arrival they immediately dive for safety. However, being reptiles, the cold water makes them lethargic and slow, allowing divers to get close and take amazing photos.
