Overview
Rhino Post Camp is a 16-bed lodge, set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed, in a 12,000 ha private wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. This unique wilderness area offers ecotourists the ideal place for encounters with the Big Five and allows visitors to track elephant and rhino on foot or view them from the comfort of open safari vehicles.

The nature of a wilderness area is that there are no permanent structures, so Rhino Post Camp was built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch and canvas to create an authentic bush ambience. Each luxury suite is exquisitely decorated and includes bedroom and lounge with impressive views of the riverbed from the bathroom, outdoor shower and decked patio.

Following a walking safari or game drive, guests can relax in the revitalising swimming pool, take in the views from the shaded patio and watch the abundant wildlife amble down to the waterhole. Sumptuous meals are served in the camp’s dining area, which is set under magnificent Tamboti trees. The lounge, with its extensive wine cellar, cosy fireplace and bar, is the perfect spot for a sundowner. For something special, spoil yourself with a little pampering in the rejuvenation centre.

In the spirit of wilderness areas worldwide, Rhino Post Camp has been specially designed and built to have minimal impact on the environment. Few permanent structures were used in the construction of this magnificent camp. Low energy lighting, solar assisted power production, natural materials, raised walkways and bedrooms are but some of the low impact measures we have taken.

Both the swimming pool and lounge overlook an active waterhole in the riverbed. The lounge, with its extensive wine cellar, fireplace and bar provide a perfect setting for an afternoon or evening sundowner.
Accommodation
Stilts raise the spaciously appointed suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and a ceiling fan. Each ensuite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, ‘his and hers’ basins, a separate toilet, and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles. The bathroom floor is attractively decorated with delicate mosaic designs complimenting the contemporary floor.
Activities
A typical day would include an early start, a cup of fresh coffee or tea, after which guests set out on their game drive. Game-drive safaris at Rhino Post are conducted in specially adapted open Land cruisers, with professional guides. Guides at the lodge meet the stringent requirements of the South African National Parks and senior guides hold the highest guiding qualification possible in South Africa to ensure that your encounters with the African wilderness are exciting, informative, and safe. Upon returning to the lodge guests enjoy a leisurely brunch and time to relax around the pool overlooking the waterhole. In the late afternoon after a delicious high tea, you can enjoy an evening game drive, winding down with sundowners, watching an African sunset and spotting nocturnal animals in the park.

Game Drives
Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers both early morning and evening game drives. Game-drive safaris at Rhino Post are conducted in specially adapted open Land cruisers, with professional guides. To preserve our wilderness concession, no off-road driving is practiced.

In addition to their wilderness concession, they have exclusive use of some of the Kruger Park public roads at night. The Kruger Park has strict gate closing times (before sunset) for their rest camps & access gates. Rhino Post is allowed to utilize certain public roads for night/evening drives well after gate closing times.

Another option available for guests is for a full or half day game drive on the Kruger public roads with a picnic lunch en-route. The full or half day option is by prior arrangement.
Dining
The dining area set under Tamboti trees, allows for al fresco dinners, cool lunches in the heat of a summer afternoon and snug winter dining, while candlelight riverbed dinners and breakfasts, bush picnics, sunset cocktails and starlight dinners under the protection of armed guards, are a wonderful, alternative bush experience. Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers guests unique dining experiences during their stay. These include bush breakfasts, picnics, sunset cocktails & starlight dinners as well as dinners and breakfasts in the riverbed.
