Getting to Osa Peninsula`s wonderful beaches is an adventure in itself, but well worth it. This remote area called Drake Bay is incredibly unspoiled and offers fantastic diving.
You can reach this enchanted place by first taking a 45-minute domestic flight, and then only by boat or seaplane, there are no roads through the jungle.
Aguila de Osa Inn is a gorgeous jungle retreat overlooking the Drake Bay. The resort`s guestrooms feature hardwood floors and polished wood interiors, private bathrooms and ceiling fans. The restaurant serves mouthwatering dishes with a unique tropical flair of fresh seafood, luscious fruit and tasty vegetables.
Scuba diving Caño Island and selected coastal sites show you a parades of pelagic fish including snapper, tuna, grouper, mackerel, jack, sharks, trigger fish, manta rays, porcupine fish and schools of barracuda. Stony coral species shelter many small creatures and the terrain is widely varied with reefs, underwater pinnacles, canyons, walls and caves. You can also sight porpoises, sea turtles, whale sharks, sea snakes and humpback whales.
Aguila de Osa Inn offers the most extensive fleet of custom-designed sport fishing vessels available on the southern coast of Costa Rica. In fact, more than forty world records are registered within 80-mile radius of the bay, including sailfish, black marlin, blue marlin, yellowfin tuna and wahoo. Large concentrations of roosterfish and cubera snapper can be found inshore. New equipment, well-maintained boats and excellent fishing guides make this a superb spot for a fishing vacation.
Jungle hikes right by the resort, and guided hikes to Corcovado National Park and Caño Island Biological Reserve are available. The immense biodiversity includes countless orchid species, howler and white-faced monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans and 300 other species of birds indigenous to the region. Horseback rides, sea kayaking and snorkeling are other great activities around here.
