Overview
From its hilltop location in southern Bali, the stunning Amanusa Resort is blessed with tropical island views. The Bali Golf and Country club unfolds immediately below the resort, and from the rolling green hills, the view runs north to the sea and beyond to volcano Mt. Agung. On a clear morning, the horizon is full with Bali’s mountains. In the east, just a few hundred meters away, the sea is cut with a barrier reef made for serious surfing.

Accommodation
Amanusa Resort`s 35 dreamy thatched-roof suites are set behind stone walls for privacy. Each suite has a large living area with a four-poster bed, a table for intimate dinners and television and stereo system. The balcony has a canopied oversized daybed, perfect for daydreaming and taking in the views. The marble bathroom opens up to a lily pond and secluded outdoor shower. Eight of the suites have private swimming pools.

Dining
The Terrace Restaurant, with its sweeping views over the golf course, the Indian Ocean and the mountains, offers Indonesian and Thai cuisine. Another restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine. The open-air bar offers dramatic views to the southern peninsula, the sea and the mountains on the horizon.

Cooking classes, either Indonesian or Thai, are now available in the kitchen of the Terrace Restaurant. The classes, about 90 minutes long, are held in the quiet time between breakfast and lunch. After preparing the dishes, enjoy them, tableside, at the Terrace. Classes are personalized, limited to a maximum of four people and led by Amanusa’s executive chef.

Facilities
Amanusa Resort’s lavish 30-meter swimming pool is bordered by unglazed batik pots, a trellis of flowing bougainvillea and a two-story stone wall. Two tennis courts are floodlit for evening play. Massage is available in the privacy of your suite, either indoors or out on the balcony, or by the poolside.

The resort`s beach club is just a beach-buggy ride away. The beach club’s nine bales are fitted with mattresses and roll cushions and face a coral reef about 200 meters out. Snorkeling equipment is available. Light meals and refreshments are served at the dining bale. The beach club is also the setting for regular candlelight barbecues, with three tables set down on the sand by the sea.

Amanusa Resort can organize a variety of personalized island tours. A visit to the ancient Luhur Uluwatu temple, an easy drive from Amanusa, is a popular excursion, particularly for sunset. A variety of sailing craft, including a luxury sailing catamaran, can be chartered to visit Nusa Lembongan, about twenty kilometers off the coast.
