Carcosa Seri Negara is located in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, close to the city`s many attractions and shopping. The hotel is consists of two mansions—Carcosa and Seri Negara—which were built in the turn of the century to host colonial civil servants and their guests.
Everything is magnificently preserved and restored, and you can step back in time to experience traditional high tea on the veranda and an elegant dinner in the dining room. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip stayed here in 1989 and again in 1998. Stroll the 40-acre meticulously manicured English gardens, enjoy the gentle breeze of the ceiling fans and a cool gin and tonic in the Titiwangsa Bar after a day in the city, and play a game of cricket after lunch on Sunday.
The thirteen suites at Carcosa Seri Negara are furnished in distinctive regency style, with fine brocades, old etchings and Malaysian art. Many of the suites have private terraces and two come private dining rooms.
All the suites are air-conditioned, and have mini bars, televisions, VCRs and CD players. Seven of the suites also feature full marble bathrooms and dual ports for fax and internet access.
Dining at Carcosa Seri Negara is a delightful experience. The Mahsuri Dining Room features a contemporary cuisine with a touch of Asian influence. The elegant dining room offers views over the lawns, with softly lit tables set well apart—a truly romantic experience. Also, make sure not to miss the mouth-watering Curry Tiffin Lunch served on Sundays!
The English afternoon tea served on the veranda features a great variety of teas, assorted sandwiches, pastries and cakes, and the quintessential English tea fare of scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The hotel also features a swimming pool, sauna and tennis courts.
