Jais Aben Resort is on the mainland Papua New Guinea on a peninsula some ten miles north of Madang on the Bismark Sea. It has eighteen oceanfront units, all with screened patios overlooking small coral beaches. The rooms are equipped with refrigerators and coffee makers, and are spacious enough for four people.
The restaurant serves fine local and international cuisine in a delightful open-air setting. Scuba diving is first class with a full PADI dive shop at the resort.
Jais Aben Resort is also home to a privately funded research facility. Established in 1985, the Christensen Research Institute is dedicated to terrestrial and marine biological research. Sharing with Jais Aben the twenty-two acres of a forgotten coconut plantation and nearby Riwo village gardens, scientists find ready access to reef, island and mainland research sites. Guests will have the opportunity to mix with the scientists and share information.
