Pulau Layang-Layang, or Swallow Reef, is a little drop of an island in the deep blue. It is situated 220 miles northwest of Kota Kinabalu and formed by thirteen coral reefs linked together.

Pulau Layang-Layang only a mere speck of an island, just fifteen acres, and lies in one of the very best dive areas in the world. The island is operational from March to September when the seas are calmest and visibility is up to 200 feet.

Completely renovated, the Layang Layang Island Resort offers the comforts of an international hotel including air-conditioning and private bathrooms with hot water showers. There are 82 rooms and four suites divided among six buildings of tropical hardwood, a free-form freshwater pool and a restaurant with Asian and continental cuisine.

All rooms are air-conditioned, and equipped with televisions, refrigerators and private balconies. There is an entertainment room with a television where laser disc movies are shown nightly.

Scuba diving is the predominant sport here but birdwatching together with sport fishing, snorkeling and other watersports activities in the huge lagoon are also offered. The resident PADI dive center has friendly and experienced dive masters, equipment for rent and a full range of dive courses. All the great dive sites are within fifteen minutes away! Combine Layang Layang with Sipadan for the ultimate Malaysian Borneo dive experience.
