Utila Lodge is located on the island of Utila, fifteen miles west of Roatán, on a street lined with Victorian architecture and garnished with English accents. There are only eight nicely appointed rooms, all with air-conditioning, large private baths and porches or balconies.
The resort is a series of seaside buildings with adjoining docks built on stilts at the edge of the sea toward the west end of Utila village. The island of Utila is delightfully underdeveloped with plenty of tropical wilderness and no buildings taller than the palm trees. Utila Lodge is a dive-dedicated resort with full-service dive shop and equipment rental, including underwater photography gear. There is an impressive list of scuba diving courses you can complete—book in advance to guarantee availability! The diving is outstanding with sea mounts, walls, caverns and encounters with whale sharks and more.
Deep sea fishing in search of blue marlin, sailfish, wahoo, dorado and tuna is excellent. Other activities include great hiking, sea kayaking, spelunking, picnics at deserted beaches, horseback riding, lagoon excursions and island tours. |
