Airport transfers are available in the resort`s airconditioned mini-buses. The airport is 60km from the resort (a 60 minute drive, and a chance to see the surrounding area).
Walindi Diving has three day dive boats operating from the resort daily. The newest vessel is "Charmaine". 30 feet in length, she is an aluminium purpose built dive boat fitted with GPS and fresh water tanks. "Emma" and "Dilemma" are a little smaller, of a similar design. The boats take 6-8 divers each, and diving is on the many beautiful Walindi Reefs in Kimbe Bay. Most of the reefs are a photographer`s paradise, all of them have an incredible array of marine life, from the smallest to the largest creatures and corals. Inglis Shoal and Kimbe Island Bommie are sea mounts, and attract the larger fish and sharks, as does North Emma Reef.
Generally, divers will head out for two dives, leaving 9:00ish and returning 4:00ish, with lunch provided on one of the deserted islands nearby. On request, three dives per day may be organised, subject to boat availability, and night dives can also be arranged with the Dive Manager.
Walindi Photo provides photography instruction, E6 processing, all types of camera rentals, video services and more. |

| About ´FeBrina´ |
|
OVERVIEW FeBrina is a 72-foot luxury diving vessel that takes in the best sites in Papua New Guinea. With a maximum of only fourteen guests, FeBrina is truly spacious and provides plenty of room for underwater photographers with a double camera table on the dive deck. |
|
ACCOMMODATIONS MV FeBrina came to Papua New Guinea as the life time dream of Captain Alan Raabe, combined with the foresight of Max Benjamin at Walindi Resort.
With Walindi Resort as her home port, and under the management of Alan, MV FeBrina has evolved into a boutique Liveaboard dive vessel, providing a unique diving experience in the bountiful waters of West New Britain.
MV FeBrina was purchased by her current owners, Max Benjamin and Alan Raabe, in 1991. At the time, FeBrina was a fishing and diving charter vessel operating out of Gladstone, Australia. Prior to delivering the boat from Australia to Papua New Guinea, the boat was totally refurbished to cater especially for divers and underwater photographers.
|
|
Since that time, there have been many changes to FeBrina, including the addition of an upper deck and relocation of the wheelhouse from main deck to upper deck, total rebuild of the forward cabins to 3 x ensuite cabins and total re-power of the boat with replacement of main engines and generators.
Today, MV FeBrina is 73 feet of liveaboard comfort and convenience. She is a stable and extremely seaworthy motor vessel, made for serious divers and photographers who want a total PNG dive experience.
FeBrina's crew are locally trained as divers, and they specialise in combining excellent service and meals in combination with the ultimate diving experience. The crew are friendly and humble, always ready to offer a smile and a helping hand. They are extraordinarily good "spotters" often pointing out elusive and rarely seen critters, much to everyone's delight.
The boat has 7 comfortable, individually air conditioned cabins in various configurations, catering for a maximum of 12 guests. The dive deck is well set out and diving couldn't be easier, donning your gear at the dive consoles and entering the water via the water level duckboard. |
|
DIVING Papua New Guinea is located in the coral triangle, the centre of marine biodiversity which has the highest diversity of tropical fish and coral in the world. The waters of New Britain are home to prolific and diverse marine creatures and corals. Pristine and colourful corals are home to a variety of fish, crustacean and invertebrate life. Many of the reefs have resident schools of barracuda, tuna and jacks. A range of shark species are regularly sighted, including hammerheads and silvertips, particularly on the offshore reefs.
The coral reefs around Walindi are extraordinarily rich. A recent coral count of Kimbe Bay revealed an incredible 413 species of hard coral. This is over half the total world species in one Bay, a truly remarkable statistic which makes Kimbe Bay the "Coral Capital of the World". Over 900 species of fish have been recorded and this number will continue to grow as more research is done.
