Mimpi Resort Menjangan

Description:

Menjangan (beach pool)Set on the shore of a lagoon-like bay in the northwestern coast of Bali neighboring the Bali Barat National Park and the famous diving site of Menjangan Island, Mimpi Menjangan is built in the style of a Balinese village. The resort location offers an ideal setting for diving, snorkeling, canoeing, sea-biking and an easy exploration to discover the flora and fauna of the Bali Barat National Park.

Two fresh water pools are perfect for lounging, reading and relaxing. The garden pool is located in front of the villas surrounded by lawn and the beauty of nature. The bay pool is perched right at the edge of Banyuwedang Bay next to the hot spring and overlooking the lagoon, fringed by mangroves. From August to October, macaques can be often seen hanging in mangrove branches right in front of the pool.

The half-floating restaurant has a view looking out across the flat lagoon-like bay, surrounded by lush mangrove vegetation and untouched monsoon forest. From the wooden deck you can see a string of the East Java Mountains with their peak, Mount Ijen striking a silhouette during the sunset hours.

At the spa, treatments are carefully selected to rejuvenate body and soul after an active day. Several of the treatments use the resort’s natural thermal hot spring water which has been shown to render good health effects. Try the traditional or aromatherapy massage, lulur scrub body or take the two-hour spa combination mixing massage and facial treatment. All include well-trained therapists and natural ingredients.

Accommodation:

Mimpi Menjangan features 30 terraced Patio rooms, each flanked by a small pond and facing a lush tropical garden. Each room features a large verandah, Balinese outdoor shower with a small garden and access to a natural hot pool fed by the ancient Banyuwedang spring nearby. Rooms are cool with marble floors, high wooden ceilings and locally-made furniture.

The 18 Courtyard Villas are scattered along limestone pathways with water lily ponds in every corner. Entrance is private through a wooden door which takes you to a private courtyard garden with a natural hot spring tub and Balinese day-bed gazebo known as a ‘bale’. There is a natural stone-walled outdoor shower entered either throught the garden or through the spacious bedroom.

The 4 Courtyard Pool Villas each have a private fresh water plunge pool. Each Pool Villa has all amenities of a regular villa including the hot spring tub and bale, with the addition of an outdoor table and umbrella in the courtyard. The ambience is private and is ideal for a honeymoon or private retreat.

In the front row of the accommodation facing the lagoon are 2 Grand Courtyard Villas which are larger and better appointed. Entrance is through carved-antique wooden doors across over a water lily pond to your private courtyard, which contains the bale, hot spring tub, fresh water plunge pool, wooden deck and outdoor table with umbrella.

Diving:

A fully-maintained PADI Dive Center is available on site to cater both beginner and experienced divers. Safety and easy diving begins with well-trained and attentive staff and professionals as well as well-maintained equipment and standards.

The vertical coral walls around Menjangan Island plunge down to 30-60 meters, and then slope outward. The reef surface is particularly rugged: caves, grottoes, crevasses and funnel-like splits break up the coral wall, and the surface is textured with little nooks and crannies. Gorgonians of many kinds reach large size here, and huge barrel sponges are abundant. Soft corals blanket the colorful wall all the way down. About 30 minutes by boat, the island offers fine diving to suit every taste.

Secret Bay is a unique and easy shore dive often considered as a site for new discoveries and best for macro photography. Among the many species like seahorses, nudibranchs, gobies and dragonets, it is the abundant and variety of anglerfish and scorpionfish that makes this dive site so exiting.

A newly-discovered site called Puri Jati is located approximately 40 minutes drive east of the resort. Considered as Bali’s richest point for muck diving, this site is characterized by flat sandy bottom with some sea-grass. This is the most likely site to see mimic octopus and some other rarities.
