Scuba Club Cozumel

Description:

Scuba Club (beachfront view)

Built in 1976 as Cozumel’s first dedicated diver’s resort, Scuba Club Cozumel is still a very intimate place where you will find convenience and good value. Designed and built by divers for divers this property provides all services in one convenient place.

Scuba Club Cozumel is an attractive multi-level building of Spanish-Colonial architecture that blends in with the waterfront, located one mile south of the downtown ferry dock. The resort is private, safe and secluded, but still within walking distance to town.

Accommodation:

The courtyard area is rich with tropical plants adorned with local stone carvings and exotic flowers. From the roof-top patio guests enjoy a beautiful view of Cozumel's blue water. The freshwater swimming pool is located next to the restaurant. The Fat Grouper Grill is located on the second-level, awaiting the return of hungry divers. Both levels operate on schedules based on diving activities so you never have to worry about waiting around or making a reservation.

There are only sixty-one rooms, finished in tile and stucco. Each has individual character with the feel of Mexican heritage. All rooms have a private terrace and are air-conditioned with ceiling fans, hair dryers, alarm clocks, a small refrigerator and drying racks on the terrace. King size beds are available, as well as rooms with two doubles. Larger family rooms have two doubles and an additional sitting area with a twin-size bed. A few rooms have been remodeled to accommodate the needs of handicapped divers.

Since a diving vacation should also be relaxing, rooms are not equipped with a TV or a telephone, but instead are spacious, comfortable and most rooms have an ocean view.

Diving:

Scuba-Cozumel is a full service dive center with an air filling station, a full line of rental gear and basic repairs shop, as well as an International Training Center offering specialty courses and certification at all levels. A fleet of seven customized boats equipped with dive platforms and sturdy ladders, marine radios, oxygen and first aid trained crews are available to safely transport divers to the dive sites.

Guests can also enjoy shallow diving and snorkeling right in front of the resort. The jagged ironshore limestone wall gives refuge to many juvenile reef fish, lobsters, crabs, octopus, and even an occasional seahorse. A great option for macro photography. Night dives here are fantastic offering unique and memorable creature encounters.

A PADI 5-Star Dive Shop is conveniently located on the premises. Across the street in a small annex, there is a well-stocked retail dive shop as well as a gift shop. Divers board the boats every morning from Scuba Club’s large private pier. Dive gear lockers and freshwater rinsing tubs are conveniently located just a few steps away from the docks next to the dive center and on the opposite end of the beach next to the pool.

Other exciting dive sites are between a 10 minute and 50 minute boat ride from the resort.
