Sipadan Water Village

Description:

Sipadan Water Village is that resort you see in the magazines and wish you could visit!  Each room is an individual bungalow and the entire resort is built over the water so you have ocean breezes and no bugs!  The whole resort is built in traditional Bajau architecture and uses Belian wood from Borneo.  The layout of the resort was carefully chosen as to not disturb the existing reef.  So, not only is it exotic and beautiful, its building materials, design, and layout are all in harmony with its surroundings.

All of the bungalows, dive shop, lobby and restaurant are connected by a wooden sidewalk. The sidewalk is beautifully adorned with palm trees, bougainvillea and hibiscus and beneath, it is a natural aquarium full of corals and reef creatures.

Accommodation:

Sipadan Water Village has 5 different types of chalets.  Most of the cottages are Standard. These charming cottages are about 700 sq ft and have either 2 twin beds or 1 king bed. The rooms are large enough for another twin bed, if necessary. There are 20 of the Standard Cottages with air conditioning. There are 4 Standard Cottages that are configured as duplexes. Each cottage is completely private – but it shares a wall with the cottage next to it and they have a common balcony. It’s ideal for families or friends traveling together.

There are 4 Junior Cottages. They are a little smaller and are located near the dive shop. They have two twin beds or a king bed.
The Deluxe Cottages are a little larger than the Standard Cottage and there are only 2 of them. They only have a king bed. The bathroom is much larger and it has a bathtub in addition to the shower and dual vanities. The Deluxe Cottages have air conditioning.
The Grand Deluxe Cottages are huge at about 1300 sq ft. They have two queen beds, two large walk-in closets, a large bathroom with dual vanities and a large sitting area with a couch and two chairs! There is also a hot tub on the balcony!

Diving:

Sipadan Water Village offers a unique array of diving. This is one of the few destinations in the world where you can see everything from pygmy seahorses to massive schools of fish – all within the distance of a 20 minute boat ride. Normally, you will either get big stuff or little stuff but Sipadan Water Village has it all. There are three general areas that you will dive. Of course, there are always exceptions, but you can count on diving these three areas – Mabul, Kapalai and the famed Sipadan.

Due to the fact that the marine life found around Mabul Island varies greatly from that of Sipadan Island, the combination of the two islands for diving make a diver’s diving holiday more complete.  Mabul and Kapalai is heaven for studying the macro aspects of marine life and guarantees hours of fascinating fish watching with ample opportunities for photography.  At world renowned Sipadan Island, divers get a different experience as one dives amongst turtles, sharks, schooling bumphead parrotfish, and hug schools of jacks and barracuda.  Sipadan Island is only 20 minutes away from the comforts of the Sipadan Water Village.
